As both the Bridge River Daycare and Bridge River Head Start Programs will be operating at the same time. All daily Childcare activities are designed to enrich the academic experience of our children. The Daycare program supports and follows the six components of the Bridge River Head Start program.
Philosophy: Considers the purpose of the child care centre The Bridge River Head Start/Daycare is a preschool orientated program. Our play based approach is to help prepare the child to enter school (preschool or kindergarten), and to equip the parent(s) with the needed tools to help support their child (ren). We strongly believe that both the child (ren) and parent(s) have the right to grow and develop in a positive atmosphere and that the St'át'imc Language and culture are fundamental milestones to support the children and their families identity.
The Bridge River Head Start/Daycare programs support the families to accomplish positive life long learning and to help the children build healthy positive relationships with their parents, families and the community with the help of St'át'imc Laws (Health, happiness, generosity, generations, pity, power and quietness). The Bridge River Head Start/Daycare believes we can achieve these needed positive relationships with the support of the Xwisten community. This Social Support from the Xwisten community shows the families the resources and services that are available to them to improve their quality of life. This support also benefits the community by involving them more in the children lives, because it takes a community to raise a child.
Goals: Considers what a Board of Directors, ECE and families are aiming to accomplish in the child care programs Our goal at the Bridge River Head Start/Daycare is that at the end of the year both child and the family develop great self esteem and is able and willing use the essential tools they have learned and use them to grow and succeed.
Objectives Consider the tasks, duties and responsibilities required to achieve goals. To achieve our goals in all areas of the St'át'imc Laws the Bridge River Head Start/Daycare will be employing elders and members of the Bridge River Community as educators. This will strengthen the community as a whole. We also need the families to participate in the Head Start/Daycare program on a daily basis. It will be easier on both the children and the families, because they will become accustomed to the routine. By having a structured routine the families will know what to expect next.
Both circle and language will take place at the same time. This will encourage the families to interact with each other and with the educators. During circle there will be no pressure, because circle time is a place of learning but we believe learning should be fun! Daycare: Head Start: |
