Penny James is the Administration’s Band Social Development Worker (BSDW). Her duties includes several areas of focus for the community. She has been with the Band Administration for 8 years now. |

Job description is to assist people that are in need of Income assistance. Do the monthly reporting and send out o INAC. Submit Proposals for continued funding for 3 of the Programs run. Do the annual reports for these programs and send them out.
Administer the Adult in Home Care Program which looks after our Elders and their needs. Currently we do not have an Elder’s Coordinator. I am setting up Luncheons and will try to administer to this program best as I can.
Work with the NNADAP / Youth worker / Health Department with different workshops that are brought into the community. |

The Social Development Department has Programs that are Band Based; meaning funding will be available for most requests if are residing in / on Bridge River Reserve.
Program delivery includes; Adult In Home Care (Elder’s), Family Violence, Employment Support, Income Assistance, Mental Health
Income Assistance is the main focal for Social Development. This program administers to “Welfare” recipients on reserve. |

All programs require approval before any sponsorship is allowed. A written letter of intent must be submitted to the Social Development office. There will be a review, and upon approval you will be contacted.

Social Development also works with the Ministry of Children and Families in Lillooet, as we do not have a “Family Worker” When the MCFS is involved, the Band is always informed of the situation at hand.
Social Development assists with Employment Training. When funding is low or not available then usually the letter will be referred to Education or to the Employment Centre in Town. |
